We're only a few weeks before the clock strikes 12 and we enter 2022, so you may be thinking about some goals you want to achieve in the New Year.
As a female personal trainer, I know a fitness challenge and body transformation is more than just attending the gym. It's a lifestyle change. Whether your 2022 goal is to lose a bit of weight, or if you're looking to be a bit more organised, I've got some great tips on how to reach your New Year's Resolution.
Is your goal to lose some weight?
We can all feel a bit sluggish after the Christmas chocolate and extra helping of mince pies, which is why gym memberships and fitness clothing prices go through the roof in January. My advice to you is rather than focusing shifting a few pounds, or the classic 'lose weight and tone up' I suggest you think about your lifestyle.
For quick results, I advise restricting your diet, cutting out processed foods and refined sugars. I'd also suggest learning about food labels. Anything that is high in sugars or saturated fat (they're normally marked red on the packaging) avoid and swap for some healthy fresh dishes packed with fruit or vegetables...it will help keep you fuller for longer too!
I've got some great recipes on my Instagram, why not check the recipe below for a dark chocolate flapjack recipe, it's a great alternative to flapjacks by the counter in coffee shops!
Is being more organised your goal?
As much as I wish overpriced diaries from Paperchase worked their magic, being organised is also a mental challenge. Being organised can benefit greatly, it can avoid stress, help manage your time and tends to make you a more productive individual altogether.
So, what tips can I share with you to make you more organised?
I suggest blocking 10-15 minutes out on a Sunday evening or Monday morning to write up your weekly tasks. You can then break these down into '30 minute jobs' 'more than 30 minute jobs' or 'quick 5 minute tasks'. This should help give you an outlook of what your week ahead is looking like. Any free time remaining you can prepare for in case something urgent comes up.
Ditch your phone for one hour. Leave your phone in the locker room when you're in the zone at the gym floor. Leave your phone in your bag if you're at your office at work. I do think our iPhones have become a second limb to us.
Looking to save some cash this year? Here's how!
My clients often tell me weight loss and saving up for cash works hand in hand. Instead of splurging on meals out or takeaways, they are putting the money towards a new car, house baby etc.
A lot of banks offer something called save the change, where they automatically round your outcome of funds to the nearest pound, so you're saving when you don't even know it.
I also recommend trying to make cash from your unwanted gifts after Christmas - Facebook market is a great place to get cash for unwanted furniture. Depop and Vinted are a great market place for selling your unwanted Christmas party dress too!
Looking for love? Let me see what I can do for you...
I mean, I'm no matchmaker but I do have a few friends who can back me up on being a great wing woman!
Instead of the classic dating apps, why not look to join a social group of something you enjoy? Look to the local community to see if there is any groups that specialise in something you might take interest to. It's a great way of meeting friends, opening your social circle and you may meet someone special along the way....
