10 Reasons why to invest in a fitness coach

Updated: Dec 19, 2022

Have you ever thought abut investing in a personal trainer or a fitness coach to help you achieve your goals? I can list out so many benefits of hiring in a personal trainer to fit all in one blog, so I've listed out here the top 10.

I know what you're thinking, The Curve Coach has to list all of the benefits because that's their job? I also want to let you know that even The Curve Coach has invested in a fitness coach. Back in 2021 I wanted to achieve fitness goals I know I wouldn't be able to get there on my own, so I hired a personal trainer and coach to help me get to where I wanted to. True story, visit my Instagram page if you don't believe me!

So here it goes, my 10 reasons why everyone should have a coach!

1) It will help you achieve your physical goals

Instead of downloading an at home booty guide which has been mass produced to help some personal trainer's bank balance, opting for a coach will help set a plan tailored to around your needs.

You will discuss with your trainer your personal qualities like:

  • Your lifestyle, are you active throughout the day or are you a desk worker who struggles to get their steps in.

  • Your diet; are you vegan and you need advice on how to source protein or do you have a weakeness with sugary foods? Your trainer should be able to offer some valuable nutritional advice.

  • Your goals: where do you want to focus on? Are you training for a half marathon or are you looking to improve your weightlifting levels?

By having these discussions with a trainer will help get you miles ahead of where you want to be rather than trialing PDFs and fitness apps.

2) Helps prioritise yourself

You've read every guide in the self-help section of the book store, but you still can't allow to dedicate one hour of exercise in your routine.

When you are paying for a service that is tailored to your routine you will find yourself easing into making your fitness sessions more a priority than going out for a walk with your friend who you find particularly snobby and feel obliged to meet up with them every now and again.

it may feel challenging and a little bit out of your comfort zone as saying 'no' after always saying yes isn't in your nature, but if you are dedicated enough to your training it will come.

3) It will provide an education on fitness

You must have some interest with fitness as you wouldn't be this far down in my blog already! All qualified personal trainers must have some qualifications in their background. I've attended so many seminars, webinars, training workshops around the anatomy and it's really deepened my knowledge, and I like to share it with my clients!

If you are looking for a personal trainer for a temporary measure, whether this is 12 weeks or 12 months - you want to still have some permanent knowledge and learnings around how to perform certain exercises, or what is happening to your body before/during/after your workout.

4) You will become the queen of organisation skills

You will likely transform from someone who relied on ready meals and takeaways and didn't much of an agenda to someone who religiously meal preps on a Sunday night and gets excited at a new meal planner notepad and a pair of gym leggings!

Planning is the key to success. You will learn to fit in planning ahead of sessions in your lifestyle and you'll have organisation skills better than Mrs Hinch!

5) It's sociable

If you're working from home and you're missing a bit of face-to-face contact then a personal trainer is a great way of getting some form of social interactions in what is now a digital world!

You'll also see familiar faces in the gym who attend the gym around the same time as you have your sessions will help you to make new acquaintances.

6) It will keep you motivated and challenged

Bored of the same workouts? Yeah I feel you, there's only so many YouTube workouts you can do before you know the script word for word!

A fitness trainer can help push yourself to the limit, something you may not have done on your own. Training plans should also be refreshing and should keep workouts exciting.

7) You want to work with an injury or medical condition

if you've been setback because of an injury, illness or medical condition a personal trainer can help you safely get back not track by modifying exercises and setting up a training programme tailored to your abilities. This can help prevent future injuries if you are following a dedicated plan.

8) It improves your mental health

Science (and Joe Wicks) backs that exercise is great for your mental health. There are so many benefits to exercise that will help your mental health wellbeing such as improved quality of sleep, reduced stress levels and more energy to name a few.

When you see a PT on a frequent basis it is only natural you discuss your work, relationship and family in conversation, and a PT can be someone you can talk to. I'm not saying we're qualified therapist, but if you're struggling with work or need some relationship advice your trainer can help you get the right help and guidance with these issues. .

9) Improved confidence

That gym floor you were scared to go in because the men in there were slamming weights around? That fear will go after a few weeks of training and you'll be the one showing the guys how it's done!

A personal trainer should help improve your self esteem by keeping you motivated and showing you how far you've come on your journey.

10) It makes you accountable

Have you always been someone who provided excuses like 'oh I didn't have a great sleep because the heating was on all night' or 'I needed to get back for the delivery driver' to skip the gym? A personal fitness coach or trainer can only advise and provide - it is you that has to show up and put the effort in.

By signing up to a plan with a trainer can help you become more responsible and accountable for your decisions for the long term.

I also know what you're thinking, isn't a fitness trainer quite costly? It depends. There's a lot of trainers out there that might charge a fixed price for a plan or there might be some discounts on block bookings of sessions which might be costly as an upfront charge but be at a good value overtime.
